UPDATE: Due to the overwhelming need the Village will open the landfill for tree branches and garden debris on Sunday, May 23rd as well from 1pm to 4pm
Well, we can all agree, this isn’t the start to the May Long weekend we were hoping for!
While the ice storm has left some truly beautiful scenery, there are also dangers out there you need to be aware of.
As you know the power is currently out and there is no estimate as to when it will be restored. Please be cautious and on the lookout for downed power lines. We know they are out there, but they could be hidden in debris. Special shout out to SaskPower who we know are working extremely hard right now to log outages and get the lights back on – we appreciate you!
We know there is debris scattered throughout town. If you are beginning the clean up process, please remember that many trees and structures are still under strain and debris is continuing to fall from above. Ensure you are aware of your surroundings on the ground and above.
In order to assist with the clean up, the Village will be opening the landfill this weekend. Tomorrow, on Saturday May 22nd, we will have the landfill open from 10 to 4.
Above all, please – stay safe!
Please remember only tree branches and garden waste can be brought to the Vibank landfill. No painted or treated lumber, plastic, or general household garbage.
