The Village of Vibank has lowered our flags to half mast, and will remain lowered for 215 hours, in remembrance and recognition of the 215 Indigenous children whose remains were found at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia.
We can never undo the past, but we can honour the memory of the thousands of children who were sent to residential schools, those who never returned, and the families whose lives were forever changed.
A National Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former students and those affected. Emotional and crisis referral services can be accessed by calling the 24-hour national crisis line: 1-866 925-4419.
